Open router settings: Access router settings with few easy steps
Here you’ll learn how to open router settings in just a few easy steps. I had always people asking me over my YouTube channel how can they open router settings, so with this page I can finally put this question to rest.
Follow these simple steps:
1) Open Command prompt
Go to start and search ‘cmd’. Then right click on ‘Command Prompt’ and click ‘Run as administrator’.
What is a command prompt?
A command prompt is the input field in a text-based user interface screen for an operating system or program. A prompt, in this context, is something designed to elicit an action. The command prompt consists of a brief text string followed by a blinking cursor, which is where the user types commands.
2) Type ‘ipconfig’
Once the command prompt is open, type ‘ipconfig’ and press enter.
What is IPCONFIG ?
Ipconfig displays all current TCP/IP network configuration values and refreshes Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Domain Name System (DNS) settings. Used without parameters, ipconfig displays the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway for all adapters.
3) Search ‘Default gateway’
Search for ‘Default Gateway’ keyword and copy IP address given corresponding to it.
What is Default gateway IP address?
A default gateway is used to allow devices in one network to communicate with devices in another network. If your computer, for example, is requesting an internet webpage, the request first runs through your default gateway before exiting the internet.
4) Open browser
Open your browser and paste IP address in the web address bar, then press enter. After that you’ll be asked to enter your username and password, you can find your default username and password here. After entering your correct username and password, you’ll jump straight into router settings.
